Sunday January 19th @ 11:AM We welcome the return of guest artist, friend and long- time bonsai professional Julian Adams from Lynchburg, VA http://www.adamsbonsai.com/index.html
Meeting again at our wonderful new venue –UNCW’s Truist Hall, 680 S College Rd, Wilmington, 28403
* Please note that starting time will be 11:00 AM
– Lecture/ Discussion
Julian will present an illustrated talk on “Bonsai from the Beginning” Sharing important information on the many aspects of our “hobby gone berserk” as he puts it! Just one example is making good choices when selecting plant material to develop as future bonsai. Julian speaks from years of experience and is a terrific teacher.
There will be about ½ hour Lunch Break at the end of the morning program. There are nearby places to grab food but packing a lunch is always a good option. We will have beverages.
– Tree Advice
In the PM members are invited to bring in a tree (or two ) to get Julian’s feedback. This is a great opportunity to get expert advice on styling, future development and care for your bonsai.
Julian can offer pointers on starter trees but also welcomes seeing your best or favorite specimens that might need some focused refinement. BTW, a great opportunity to get your trees ready for the June club exhibition! This is free to our members and depending on turnout and time availability a 2nd or 3rd?) tree might be evaluated. Even if you don’t have a tree to offer, this will be a worthwhile learning experience to observe.
